IECA Education Tracks

The International Erosion Control Association offers four educational tracks to help individuals focus on industry-specific categories. These tracks are used in all educational offerings. IECA's Educational Tracks Committee is comprised of IECA members who have expertise in certain areas of erosion, sediment control and stormwater management. Each Educational Track aims to enhance the quality of IECA's educational offerings and to assist members in finding answers to their technical questions.

The educational cornerstone of IECA has long been erosion and sediment control. This wide-ranging track encompasses many of the long-standing technology sections that have been a part of the association's educational offerings. Topics in this track include erosion and sediment control BMPs, SWPPP management, vegetative establishment, wind erosion, slope technology, inspecting, monitoring and maintenance and professional certifications.  Wetland, Stream Bank, and Shoreline Restoration

Member Resources and Areas of Focus

This educational track encompasses the focused, intricate and detailed work of restoring and enhancing the waters of our oceans, lakes, rivers, streams and wetlands. Topics would include wetlands restoration technology, stream restoration and beach & shoreline stabilization.

Stormwater Management

Member Resources and Areas of Focus

This track covers the far-reaching field of managing stormwater in the post-construction urban environment. Subject matter such as regulatory requirements and compliance, green infrastructure, post-construction stormwater practices, water quality monitoring and water quality modeling are covered in this educational track.

MS4 Management

Member Resources and Areas of Focus

This educational track focuses on all of the various aspects required of a Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Permit. Many stormwater professionals are expected to have expertise across a wide scope of programs, especially in smaller MS4's. Thousands of municipalities around the world are tasked with implementing strategies to lessen the impacts of urban stormwater and industrial pollution. Subjects such as illicit discharge detection and elimination, industrial stormwater management, municipal good housekeeping, program funding mechanisms and education programs are all discussed in this educational track.

IECA is the foremost organization for those involved in or concerned about soil erosion control. Membership (in IECA) tells others you take erosion control seriously and you want to help make a difference.
