Logan Rockwell is a recent graduate of Penn State Harrisburg with a degree in Civil Engineering focusing on land development and environmental sustainability. While studying at Penn State Harrisburg, he researched and tested erosion controls on small scale construction sites under the guidance of Dr. Shirley Clark (CE Program Chair) and completed many courses in hydrology, structural analysis, hydraulic design, and AutoCAD Civil 3D drafting. He finished his academic career with Magna Cum Laude honors and a cumulative 3.97 GPA. He is currently an Engineer in Training, with completion of the FE Civil Exam and is excited to pursue his professional license.
He has recently been hired at an engineering firm, CES Engineering LLC, which oversees various civil and environmental projects in the Franklin/Fulton/Huntingdon PA area. His daily work tasks will include designing and drafting erosion and sediment control plans, grading plans, and guiding clients through all environmental and NPDES permitting. He is thrilled to be in an area of work he enjoys and looks forward to being involved in a sustainable future for construction. He is thankful for the MAC-IECA’s continued leadership in environmental conservation and for providing this meaningful scholarship.

Emily McCarthy has been fascinated by trees and stream life since childhood. As a kid growing up on a small farm in Baltimore County, she spent her summers catching crayfish and tadpoles with her siblings. After graduating from high school and community college she held an administrative role in the arboriculture industry for over 10 years. This was a valuable experience and she worked with many talented people who inspired and encouraged her to continue her education. Today, she is enrolled as a full-time student at Towson University and pursuing a degree in Biology with a concentration in Ecology, Evolution and Conservation. After graduation, she plans to continue at Towson University and obtain a Master's of Science degree with a track in Organism Biology and Ecology. Ultimately, she hopes to establish a career in research and study biological diversity in freshwater habitats. She is especially interested in the role of macroinvertebrates as biological indicators. Emily says “I am extremely grateful to the MAC-IECA for supporting my educational goals as I follow this challenging and rewarding career path!”

Audrey Fanning is currently pursuing her Master of Engineering degree in Ocean Engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology. She graduated in the spring of 2022 from Stevens with her Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Growing up vacationing at the Jersey Shore, Audrey became fascinated with the ocean. Over the past two years, she has worked with the Coastal Engineering Research Lab at Stevens to study the wave and storm erosion climate of the New Jersey coastline. She is expected to graduate with her Master's degree in December 2022 and to pursue full-time work in the field of Coastal Engineering.
