My name is Dan Fisk, and I am a MAC IECA Board Member. I am the Past President of the MAC IECA and I enjoy helping shape the great work that the Mid-Atlantic Chapter accomplishes. I’ve been a member and involved with the IECA since 2006 while I was first working toward CPESC and CESSWI certifications.

I grew up in the Finger Lakes area of Upstate NY, and spent most of my summers on the St. Lawrence River in the 1000 Islands region near the US/Cananda border.  I attended SUNY Cobleskill where I received a bachelor's degree in Wildlife Management. Immediately following graduation, I moved south to Northern Virginia and began working for Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc (WSSI) as an Environmental Technician.

The first several years saw me doing project management and maintenance of over 575 acres of wetland mitigation areas. In 2006 (- current) I began working for the Environmental Compliance Department where tasks included preparing, inspecting, and reviewing Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP); erosion and sediment control inspections; plan reviews; construction monitoring; and coordination with the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and other regulatory agencies for wetland and environmental permit compliance. Most recently, I’ve also been tasked with managing WSSI’s social media efforts, as digital marketing and publicity has long been a passion.

While environmental work has been a large part of my life, music has also played a central role (I got my first guitar at age 8). I have spent the last 12 years playing over 1000 shows in the DC Metro area, and traveling between Chicago, Atlanta, NC, MD, NJ, PA, and NY to perform. In between all the shows, I have found time to release 3 albums of original music. While difficult at times to find time to sleep – I feel lucky to be able to pursue my passions for both the environment and music. I recently purchased a new home close to our main office in Gainesville, VA, and look forward to devoting my time (and money!) to make it great!
